CALL FOR ABSTRACT
The Third International Congress on Salivary Gland Diseases invites submission of high-quality presentations on all aspects of the functioning of salivary glands, the biology and disorders of saliva, diagnosis and treatment of salivary gland disorders. In general, sessions will be multidisciplinary and will include basic sciences, pathology, radiology, radiotherapy, and surgery. Sessions are planned on the following themes:

ABSTRACT SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
Please submit your abstract online using the abstract submission link. The corresponding topic must be selected to ensure correct scoring of the abstract. The content of the abstract must be topic related.

Please note that abstracts sent by fax or regular mail will not be accepted. For the preparation of your abstract please use this abstract template.

Please ensure that the e-mail address is typed correctly, otherwise you will not be able to receive important messages regarding the status of the abstract. A confirmation email indicating a successful upload will be automatically sent to your email address.

The internet abstract submission system works best with Internet Explorer 7.0 or higher and Mozilla Firefox 3.0 or higher. Cookies and JavaScript needs to be enabled.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE PREPARATION OF ABSTRACTS
All abstracts must be prepared according to the following instructions. Abstracts which do not comply with the guidelines listed below will be returned directly to the authors for correction before they can enter the reviewing process.

  • The abstract must be written in English.
  • For standardization, the acceptable length of the abstract is of maximum 2’000 characters. This includes the author’s details, titles and non-visible characters, such as spaces and line breaks
  • The abstract should be structured into the following sections:
    • Title: should clearly indicate the nature of the investigation
    • Introduction:  should contain 1-2 sentences that clearly indicate the scientific question of the study and its clinical (or other) importance
    • Methods:  should contain sufficient information to be able to understand the experimental design, the analytical techniques and the statistics used in the study
    • Results: should contain objective data to answer the scientific question(s).
    • Conclusions: should provide only conclusions of the study directly supported by the results, along with implications for clinical practice, avoiding speculation and overgeneralization.
    • References: should be listed if indicated in the abstract
  • No tables or figures are allowed in the abstract
  • Abbreviations should be indicated in parentheses following their first mention in the text
  • Trade names cannot be mentioned in the title. However, trade names in brackets will be accepted in the body of the text
  • The submission of an abstract constitutes a formal commitment by the submitting (presenting) author to present the abstract (if accepted) in the session and the time assigned by the Programme Committee. Registration fees will not be waived
  • Please ensure your abstract does not contain spelling, grammar, or scientific mistakes, as it will be reproduced exactly as submitted. Linguistic accuracy is your responsibility. No proof reading will be done.
  • No changes can be made to the abstract after the submission deadline.
  • If you need to withdraw your abstract a written statement, reflecting the reasons for this decision must be sent to esgs2012@ch.kuoni.com

ACCEPTANCE OF ABSTRACTS
Abstracts can be accepted either as poster or oral communication.

A confirmation email indicating the acceptance or rejection of the abstract
will be sent to the provide email address before February 25, 2012.

PRESENTATION OF ABSTRACTS
Details on poster format and full presentation guidelines will be included in the notification letter and posted on the conference website.

All material needed for attaching posters will be provided to authors by the Congress Secretariat which will be operating at the Congress Venue.
